Different
All I can ask is
"Why?"
Does it give you that much pleasure?
Does it make you feel good inside?
I used to be bullied
Now,
I must get revenge
Revenge on the world
Gay
I shiver when I hear the word
Does it make me bad?
Does it mean I am unworthy?
Gay
It was wrong
I moved schools
Now I must get revenge
I am sad
And inside,
I know I shouldn't be treated like this,
But sometimes I wonder if i ever did anything wrong
I am sad
And inside,
I know I shouldn't treat people like this
But they did it to me, so it will be even.
"You are so gross!" he says
I say nothing
I am pushed into a locker
I want to escape
"You are so gross!" I say
He says nothing
I push him into a locker
Just like they did to me
Literary Elements:
The literary elements I used were....
Repetition: I used this element a lot, to show the things that two people were thinking about and doing. The same thing is happening, but the paragraphs switch in the point of view. I used this to show that the two characters had similar experiences, but did think about them in the same way.
Organic Imagery: I used this element when I showed the thoughts and feelings of the two characters in my books. I wrote about what they felt inside about the topic, the victim was sad and the bully was sad, but felt like he needed to get revenge because he once was bullied. I used this element in order to make my poem more realistic, because this could actually be what some people think when dealing with the topic.
Other elements: connotation, allusion
Paragraph of Explanation:
I chose this topic for many reasons. For one thing, I believe that this is a very important topic around the world because it affects many innocent people. I also know that almost everyone has had some experience with bullying. Whether they were the bully, the one being bullioed, or just a bystander, bullying affects many people. I thought that if I wrote about this topic, my readers would be able to connect to the poem, and, in turn, enjoy it more. It would better impact them if they had some experience with the topic. This is also a topic I know a lot about because of various school presentations, movies, and experiencing it firsthand, so I found it a moving and emotional topic to write about. Because it is so moving to me, I decided that this topic would be the best choice for my social concern poem.
